Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy that is based on the understanding that different organs and structures of the body as well as the person’s emotional state are reflected on different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears.
Working on these reflex points, reflexologists can stimulate the energy flow in your body, helping to clear any energy blockages and restoring balance in you.
It is also a holistic therapy which means it treats the whole person rather than a condition by helping to balance mind, body and soul.
Reflexology is an ancient therapy, its origins can be traced back to 2330 BC in Egypt as well as in ancient India and China. Today, thanks to the work of some extraordinary people, reflexology is recognised as an effective complementary therapy alongside conventional medicine.
Relaxes, rebalances, restores you
Stress keeps our body in a constant state of ‘flight or fight’ which has a profound effect throughout all systems in the body and if prolonged, it can manifest in a range of physical and emotional symptoms and ultimately in 'dis-ease'.
There are many theories about how reflexology works but its primary effect is that it is deeply relaxing. When the body is relaxed, it starts to heal itself through the more effective functioning of the parasympathetic nervous system. When our body is relaxed, our mind also relaxes, our energy flows more freely and balance is restored.
Everyone can feel the benefits of reflexology – babies, the elderly, athletes, those living with chronic conditions, and everyone else in between.

Benefits of reflexology
Here are just some of the most common benefits of reflexology that people notice through regular treatment:
Reduced stress and anxiety
Improved sleep
Improved general wellbeing
Improved women’s and men’s health
Improved digestive health
Reduced pain
Stronger immune system
More balanced hormones
Better mood
Greater energy levels
Improved circulation
Reduction in headaches and migraines
…and the list goes on.
Reflexology does not diagnose or claims to cure a condition. Instead, it works holistically across the mind, body and soul to help maintain or bring back balance. It relaxes, rebalances and restores us. Get in touch if you would like to find out more about reflexology or visit the website for the Association of Reflexologists.

Ildiko Horvath MAR
Hello, I’m Ildiko – an ITEC Level 3 qualified Reflexologist and full member of the Association of Reflexologists.
I run a calming home reflexology studio here in Congleton, Cheshire, offering a nurturing space for anyone needing support with stress, hormones, overwhelm, sleep, or simply a moment to breathe and recharge. I’m fully insured with Alan Boswell.
My journey into complementary therapies began in 2018 during my own fertility journey, when I turned to acupuncture for support. A year later, I tried reflexology – and something shifted. Beyond supporting fertility, I began to notice its wider effects: a deeper sense of calm, better resilience, and a feeling of being more grounded and able to meet life as it comes. Reflexology became a regular part of my wellbeing, and it still is.
In 2022, an unexpected redundancy opened a door I’d been quietly hoping for – the chance to step away from the corporate world and move toward work that felt meaningful, supportive, and heart-led. So I followed that calling and retrained as a reflexologist with the Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine in London.
Today, my Congleton reflexology practice is a soothing space where I bring together experience, intuition, and ongoing learning to support clients at all stages of life. I feel incredibly lucky to share the power of this gentle, grounding therapy with the people who walk through my door.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to welcoming you to the studio.
